PATRN - How to get involved
Want to get involved in PATRN?
There are multiple ways you can help us improve the standard of care we offer in paediatric anaesthesia whilst developing skills and experience in research methods, management and organisation.

PATRN Mailing List
PATRN Mailing List
The easiest way to get involved in PATRN is to sign up to our mailing list via the link above
The mailing list will contain updates about everything you need to know about PATRN which includes:
- Upcoming projects and how to get involved
- Invitations to submit ideas for SWIFT Surveys
- The PATRN newsletter
- Opportunities to apply for committee or regional link resident vacancies as they arise

PATRN Newsletter
We aim to distribute a newsletter every three to six months to keep members updated about active projects, share academic progress of previous PATRN activity and announce vacancies in the network.
To ensure you receive our newsletters hot off the press please join the mailing list via the link above.
Our current newsletter, along with archived editions will be published below soon.

Regional Link Residents
Each region in the UK and Ireland has a regional link resident who helps disseminate information about PATRN projects to fellow residents within their region of training.
Vacancies will be advertised via the Newsletter, mailing list, and directly via the outgoing regional link resident.
Details of your Regional Link Resident will be published here soon.

Local Study Leads
Each centre involved in a national PATRN study requires a resident Local Study Lead to facilitate the smooth running of the project within the trust.
Local Study Leads, supported by a supervising consultant, are responsible for arranging appropriate local governance approval and ensuring the study is conducted at their site in accordance with the study protocol.
Involvement in a PATRN project as a Local Study Lead is a great way to gain experience in running projects and further skills in research supported by a national network.

Swift Surveys
Swift Surveys are short, easy to answer questionnaires on hot topics or areas of interest in paediatric anaesthesia. The surveys are launched annually and used to create snapshots of opinion from delegates at the APA Annual Scientific Meeting.
Click the link here to see previous Swift Survey results and how you can submit your own Swift Survey.

Developing your own national project
PATRN usually has 1-3 national projects at some stage of progress at any given time. If you have a suggestion for a paediatric anaesthetic themed project, get in touch with the committee via our email address ( PATRN@apagbi.org.uk ) and we may be able to help your project flourish on a national level.
Joining the committee
We are always keen to connect with enthusiastic, like-minded individuals to help PATRN continue to thrive into the future.
Committee vacancies will be advertised via the mailing list and appear in the newsletter.
If you are interested in joining and have any questions about the roles and responsibilities then please feel free to get in touch.
